Custom Domains

Use your own branded link for guests, such as menu.yourrestaurant.com, instead of relying only on your default ProMenu URL.

When To Use A Custom Domain

A custom domain is a good fit when you want your menu link to match your restaurant brand, printed materials, social profiles, or in-store signage. Most teams choose a subdomain like menu.yourrestaurant.com because it is usually the easiest DNS setup.

Recommended Setup

We recommend connecting a dedicated menu subdomain instead of using your main root domain. In practice, that means using something like menu.yourrestaurant.com or order.yourrestaurant.com.

  • It keeps your menu URL short and easy to share.
  • It avoids changing the DNS setup for your main website.
  • It is usually simpler for domain providers and team members to manage.

How To Connect It

  1. Open your Hub in the dashboard.
  2. Go to the Custom Domain section.
  3. Enter the domain or subdomain you want to use.
  4. Copy the DNS record shown in the wizard.
  5. Add that record inside your domain provider's DNS settings.
  6. Return to ProMenu and click Verify & Connect.

What DNS Record Should I Add?

For most restaurants using a subdomain, the wizard will show a CNAME record with:

  • A Name / Host value such as menu
  • A Value / Target provided in the wizard

After connection, ProMenu may also show an updated recommended target for your domain configuration. If the connected-domain status shows a more specific recommended target, use that value.

Verification And Refresh

DNS changes are not always instant. After saving the record with your domain provider:

  • Wait a few minutes for propagation.
  • Use the Check Again button in the connected-domain status.
  • If ownership verification is required, add the extra verification record shown in the dashboard.

Root Domains

If you want to use a root domain like yourrestaurant.com, the setup can depend on your domain provider. That is why we usually recommend a subdomain first. It is simpler, faster, and easier to troubleshoot.

Tip: If you already have a main website, keep it on your main domain and use a dedicated subdomain for the menu. It keeps your brand clean and your DNS safer.
